On Friday 30th April 1999 I attended my first Battle of the Bands competition. At this event (which was held at the Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education Park Campus Student Union Bar) there were four bands aiming to please the audience.
Band 1: ANASTASIA
I found this band to be the most versatile as they played Rock, Ballads, Electric and Acoustic
tracks.
Band 2: BORDELLO
I found this band very good with pure ROCK tracks and feel they will go far if they stick at it as
they even looked like a professional band.
Band 3: BELL JAR
I found this band were not as good as the first two as they lacked the versatility of the first band, and were too slow after the second band, but I understand they won the competition.
Band 4: HOT YOGHURT
As I had to leave after two songs of this band I feel unable to venture an opinion of them, but what I
did see was that they tried to fuse Modern Romantics with Rap.
Each band played for about 25 minutes and my two personal favourites were ANASTASIA and BORDELLO.
